Alberta's Energy Resources Conservation Board decided last year (2012) that E-T Energy Ltd.'s electro-thermal stimulation technique for mobilizing bitumen was not ready for commercial implementation.

Based on the limited production data available, the Board is of the view that E-T Energy has not yet demonstrated that ET-DSP (Electrothermal Dynamic Stripping Process) is capable of obtaining or sustaining commercial bitumen production rates. Only one of eight demonstration extraction wells with reported production achieved commercial bitumen production rates and then for a limited time.

The Board further noted that the proposed high well density may adversely impact any future resource recovery efforts and surface land development.
